Communion with Huey
Communion
After we celebrated Huey's birthday in cell on the 29/5/14, I brought out my wine and bread that I've bought from Jaya Grocer with the prompting of the Holy Spirit to have communion with Huey, honouring her and God as we journey in this refreshing time of experiencing God together and intimately. Initially I thought of the idea of communion to be the usual ritual that we do on the first week of Sunday; little did I know God had a different plan in mind for us.
After we sat down and I surprised her with the wine and the bread I bought, we truly had communion and devotion together with each other and in the presence of God.
We began talking about what we see God doing in our lives. Huey started with what she was learning from the books that she's been reading and how it is relevant and meaningful now compared to if she would to read it a few months ago. How she danced with God this afternoon and had such a great day just sitting at the feet of Jesus, soaking in His goodness and a glimpse of the I Am. Literature is to her, what music is to me; as she laps up the beauty of well written literature that speaks about our Creator in a fresh yet fictional manner in the book "The Shack". She is amazed at how God is redefining/renewing our minds and refreshing our hearts.
Ministry
Then I proceeded to talk about what I do at Sixstrings. I started by sharing how this company that God has (literally) given me has blessed so many people around the community. Besides directly blessing Simon, Marc and myself, Sixstrings is also a blessing to the community with young people coming in to just hangout during their school holidays or groups of young people just coming in to jam/hangout/just chill. I mean, these guys could have gone to cyber cafes, mamaks, etc but they choose to come here. It's such a pleasant and inviting place to be in. Everyday, I get to make a difference in those lives (my students) that God has entrusted to me to care for and love. Advancing the kingdom in bringing the kingdom to their everyday lives.
Kingdom power
I continued by talking about how God has prepared me and gifted me to be a beacon of light and a reflection of a glimpse of His kingdom in what I do, teaching guitar. I realized how ministry is far more effective partnering with God in what He's gifted, graced and given you the authority and mandate to do rather than to try and do something that is not exactly what you are called to do. I see His life giving power of His kingdom demonstrated in the daily affairs of my students as they come with heavy hearts and leave with lightness and joy, being impacted by the glory and splendour of His kingdom. As the Spirit guides and leads I began to see myself giving words of wisdom, words of knowledge, prophetic understanding and foresight of conditions and things the students want to learn and need to hear. Being entrusted with the secrets that they tell me about their personal lives, things that happen at home, school, work, and life, has opened doors to their hearts that the Love of God can just minister to them where they are at with no condemnation and guilt.
Amazed at these things, we continued sharing about God's goodness and faithfulness in our 'real life' that our time together was really special and wonderful being devoted and honouring God and each other.
Life vs Law
Thoughts of how we ought to change the way we live according to revelation revealed to us and how it will facilitate life and a better way of the Spirit rather than religion and holding the fort mentality. Instead, advancing His kingdom in a new and fresh way that facilitates more of God and the Word and less of rituals and religion.
Taking this initial 2 months break from every ministry of the church to reflect on our lives, work on our marriage and love our family has to be the best decision we've made to honour the Lord and His people. Some of the things that were revealed to us were things that we will not have seen if we perpetuate our unfruitful and unfulfilled lives. God has just breathe a breath of fresh air into every area of our lives that challenged us to change and make a difference in the way we speak, do things and approach one another.
Some of the revelations are practical and some are intimate and dear to us to hold on too to personally experience living out His word first (beta testing) to see if it's true and really putting the bible to the daily affair's test. I'm tired of hearing people say "but in the 'real world'"... What is the real world? The reality of Christ and the Word or the reality of the kingdom of darkness that we as 'Christians' sometimes want to end up even "better than the world". Sometimes we think in order to win this worldly battle we need to fight and outwit the standards of the world. But the bible often teaches us to live out the standards of the Kingdom and bring that to this hurting world, contrary than to be more consumed by the world so that we know the "lobang's" of this world and play it to our own advantage.
Practical Church Facilitation
Worship: Practical ways to facilitate Worship - Sharing with one another an aspect of God that You encounter or love. Open the time for testimony and sharing of God written stories in the individual's heart.
After which some may want to sing a song to God that is bubbling within them to give praise, glory and honour to Him.
Sunday gatherings ought to be so much more than standing, singing songs, sitting in pews/chairs silently and then leaving with lives that have so little impact of the reality of God's word.
Revelation
Revelation without real encounter with God is useless and may even make us proud as the nature of knowledge is puffed up. We need to experience more grace and love of God in order for us to really love others. Who God has called, He also equips. I really don't have to worry as what the bible says but to walk humbly, love mercy and do justly.
Thanks for being my wife, my companion, my helper, my partner in ministry, my source of Godly wisdom, my mother to Amie, my lover and so much more, Huey. You're God's gift to me and to the world in this short timeline that we live in until the day we meet again for eternity.
